Conversations in Spiritual Leadership // Because growth should never end.

Leadership development is the topic of constant conversation within the greater church. It is a good conversation to have, yet, it is also very easy to get side tracked and disoriented with all of the information and perspectives offered within the greater "christian" culture. The conversation about leadership at Missio Dei has been a quiet one. Over the years we have developed a wait and see approach, watching people, their lives and relationships, and evaluating their readiness and willingness to lead based on their character.

At this point, we have recognized a need, not for a program to "develop leaders", but rather a movement to call men and women to Gospel centered living, which is the vision for CSL.

The Vision

Our vision for starting this ministry is to gather and grow men in the Gospel, preparing them to lead in their homes, in our church, and in the community. While Jesus is making us into different people with different gifts and purposes, the foundations of spiritual growth and development remain the same, rooted in the Gospel.

(We also recognize the need for women to be intentionally invested in as well. While this expression of CSL will focus on men, we want the women of MDC to know that we are in active prayer as to the best way to implement a similar shared experiences. Please pray with and for us in this regard.)

We simply want to be intentional about sharing the journey and pushing each other toward Christ.

Our goals for this ministry are pretty simple.
1. We desire a commitment from men to show up and sharing life honestly.
2. We are asking each man to read one book over the course of the 3 month term that the leadership will decide upon.
3. We are requiring men to serve in our church community some how, some way.
4. We are asking the men to interact over the reading material on the website by answering several questions:

    * What is the authors thesis? Or What story is he telling?
    * How has your life interacted with the "truth" of this section of reading?
    * How does the reading interact with the Gospel or the story of human brokenness/sin?
    * How do you need to respond?

The Plan

Our plan is to meet for 3 month stretches (Sept-Nov // Dec-Feb // March-May) at Angel's office every Monday morning at 6:30 AM.

The first book to be read will be Eat This Book.

The first meeting will be Sept 21

Bring your own coffee for now. Once we know who is coming, coffee will be provided.
