About 50% of Missio Dei regulars are kids. They are a huge part of our church and we love them to pieces!
On most Sundays, after the entire congregation has gathered for a welcome, announcements and singing, you will notice all the kids suddenly leap from their seats and race toward the doors smiling and expectant. This marks the start of kids church.
We have three kids church groups at Missio Dei: The Nursery (infant-preschool), The Pathfinders (K-2) and the Explorers (grade 3-5). Usually the kids all gather together for singing songs, sharing the stories of the past week and prayer then split off into groups. Each group usually has 6-10 kids and two teachers (including at least one female). The nursery group spends their time playing, coloring and eating snack. The goal of the Pathfinders and Explorers groups is to provide a time and space where the kids can come face to face with the gospel and understand how their lives are intimately intertwined with the story. Most weeks there is some time spent learning from and navigating the Bible, some art/craft, some game time and of course snack time... Do these kids really eat breakfast before they come to church? Some weeks I am surprised we aren't sponsored by Pepperidge Farms Goldfish.
We have a great set of adult volunteers who teach the kids and are committed to seeing the kids grow to know and love Jesus.
