Our DNA
DNA represents the core of any living organism. As a church, we consider MDC to be more organism as opposed to organization. The reason we point this out is because our organization and programing serves and is in submission to the Spirit working in and among us. We are slaves to Christ. He is not a slave to us and our programs, budgets, buildings, etc...
With that said, here is the heart and soul of MDC.
Our Mission
Like most things, we want to keep this simple.
Our mission is to live the life and love of Jesus and to invite others to join in.
We take the model of Jesus seriously that reflects the different stages of the Gospel narrative and personal faith in Jesus:
Come and See…
Follow Me…
Go and Tell…
Based on our passion for a Grace centered Gospel, our desire is not to change anyone, but to love everyone, while staying true to who we are and what we believe.
Our Vision
Our vision is to be the kind of church that intentionally navigates the different pathways of Portland’s culture with the counter-cultural way of Christ. We understand ourselves as people that God in Christ has commissioned to partner with Him to share his love with the world. So, we exist not for ourselves, but for the world around us.
Our people are passionate about helping the marginalized, celebrating the arts, and enjoying the beauty and recreational opportunities of Portland.
Practically speaking, you will see our people serving in different ways and different places such as the Crisis Family Center, The Root Cellar, at local prisons, in ESL classes, as hospitals chaplains, hosting soup Sundays, enjoying the Old Port, and much more!
